Nursery Wins Coveted Safety Award – March 2017
Demonstrating their commitment to going above and beyond the minimum requirements for keeping children safe, Dormer House Nursery Department has been awarded ‘Millie’s Mark’. This important quality mark has been presented by the National Day Nurseries Association in collaboration with the Department for Education and Millie’s Trust in recognition of the high standard of paediatric first aid undertaken by the nursery staff at the school.
Minimising risks and accidents to the children in their care has always been of the highest priority. Nursery Manager, Jane McPherson stated:
“I am extremely proud of my nursery team in achieving this trusted award. Their dedication and hard work in ensuring all the safeguards are in place to provide children with the best possible care and protection, will offer reassurance to parents who place theirs into our safekeeping.”
Millie’s Mark was named after Millie Thompson who tragically died as a result of choking in a nursery in 2012. Her parents campaigned for all staff to have paediatric first aid training, and in receiving Millie’s Mark, the nursery staff at Dormer House have demonstrated they achieved the necessary high standards this award demands.
